Gift Shop

Boondocks is a delight to shop! What a difference it is from the mass merchandised stores of today! Why, this goes back to the days of Marilyn, Elvis, James Dean, The three Stooges, Poka-dots and Poodle skirts! These stores sell music and memories. Collectible figurines, cards, Monopoly, games, shirts, cans, cups, original posters and so much more. Betty Boop and Betty Page. James Dean and James Cagney. Just about anyone in movies of that romantic era. And don't forget the western favorites -- John Wayne, Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Gunsmoke and More.... This is worth seeing.

Diner

Boondocks Diner is an original "Valentine Car" from the 1950s. It was brought to Deadwood over 50 years ago and has been the core of the Boondocks' growth. The burgers are famous, not to mention the hand-cut fries and the oh-sooo-good malts! Enjoy dining inside or outside to the melodies of days gone by. While your meal is prepared you'll have a chance to stroll about a bit and see the collection of cars and amusement rides that make this a fun event for the whole family. This isn't FAST food, this is GOOD food, the way it used to be.

Camping

Fun starts when you enter the Black Hills and enjoy the natural beauty around Boondocks. Here you have access to a diner and store, but you also have the option of hiking, biking, and sitting by a stream with very few people to interrupt. Cabins are available, and tent camping is popular. RV hookups are not supported at this time but there is parking for them. Pricing is very reasonable.

Call 605-578-1186 for rates and reservations. Showers and laundry.

Museum

Boondocks is a collection of original restored artifacts from the past. Many of these are on display only, and some are for sale. Posters from the glamour years of movies and our most popular stars adorn the walls. Movies have provided many wonderful relics passed from the hands of stars ultimately into our possession. A coat made by the Sands and worn by Elvis.... personal effects from Roy Rogers and Dale Evans..... From movies - props as familiar to Gunsmoke fans as their memories. So many timeless treasures reside here. It's worth the visit.

Sturgis Rally

Boondocks is a must-see for the visitor to the Black Hills. The owners of Boondocks sought to bring the Happy Days of years gone by back to life again. This growing complex is not a facade; it is built with actual relics of the past, recreating a simpler time before i-pods or even eight tracks (remember those?) It was a time that our children never will see, with the jumpin' music, the pony tails, and the penny loafers. If poodle skirts and sock hops aren't on the agenda the day that you come, it won't matter. You'll get your money's worth and more -- because it doesn't cost anything to get in!

Located between Mount Rushmore and Deadwood on Highway 385 - the most scenic AND fastest route! This is fun for the whole family. It's laid back, peaceful, and wonderful, but NEVER boring. These were our wonder years. Now they are living at Boondocks.

The Sturgis Bike Rally takes place only 20 miles (or less) from Boondocks over scenic highways. When you come to the Black Hills, you want to ride. This is a perfect destination. Plan to have lunch and stay a while, or stay the whole rally. We sit around and visit and watch the other bikers go by. We meet a bunch of others out to have a good time!

Car rallies are often at the Boondocks. Sometimes we plan them, and sometimes we don't. We welcome all those who love cars -- to look at ours or to bring their own. We welcome the Impalas, the Mustangs, the Black Hills Overdrive, and the Cool Deadwood Nights, just to name a few. We look forward to seeing you!!!!!
